ADI Dance Teacher Feature: Meet Victoria Gutierrez!

At American Dance Institute, our instructors are the heartbeat of our studios. For this edition of our Teacher Feature, we are thrilled to spotlight Victoria Gutierrez, who teaches Ballet, Modern, and Creative Dance.

Victoria received her professional training at Academia de la Danza Mexicana INBA, where she graduated with a BFA in Classical and Contemporary Dance. In 2007, she moved to Seattle, where she continued her training with the International Ballet Academy.

In the studio, you can find her:

• Teaching Ballet, Modern, and Creative Dance to students of various ages and levels.
• Bringing professional performance experience to every class.
• Drawing on choreographic work from across Seattle's dance community.

Victoria has performed with a wide range of dance companies, including International Ballet Theater, Evergreen City Ballet, ARC Dance, City Opera Ballet, Olympic Ballet Theater, and Katy Hagelin Dance Project. As a choreographer, she has collaborated with the Seattle International Dance Festival, Katy Hagelin Dance Project, Bohemia, Drybones Artist Collective, and Le Faux. Victoria truly enjoys teaching, and has been doing it since 2009 for numerous schools across Seattle.

Q&A Corner with Victoria

Q: What is your favorite part about teaching at ADI?

A: I truly appreciate the welcoming and encouraging environment that ADI fosters for students and instructors alike -warm interactions, and genuine communication. Seeing my students happy after class is one of my favorite things. I love witnessing their collective sense of accomplishment and joy. 

Q: How does your performing and choreography background shape your teaching?

A: They play a big part in the way I structure my class. My choreography background manifests in the combinations I create during class, expanding the possibilities and making it fun for me to explore different sequences and patterns. While my performance experience allows me to tap into the expressiveness of the movement in conjunction with the music, in order to bring out the true essence of dance.
