Summer Dance Camp: Ballet / Modern (ages 8 - 12)

The Ballet portion of this camp will include daily barre, center, stretching, adagio and allegro work. Class will focus on both a physical and intellectual understanding of how and why each movement should be executed. Strength, flexibility, balance, poise and musicality will be developed along with an understanding of Ballet technique. After the ballet portion of the camp the students will be ready to move onto Modern. Following a warm up the students will learn basic Laban fundamentals such as sharp and smooth or strong and light so that the students can then move through space with a new dance language. Part of the class will also be dedicated to creating their own movement sequence using breath, and different modern techniques.
