Summer Dance Camp: Beginning Ballet & Irish
(ages 8 - 12)
There are many similarities and many differences between Ballet and Irish step dancing. They compliment each other well and cross training in different dance disciplines is very advantageous to dancers. Ballet dancers tend to pick up Irish dance quickly as the students already have some technique and form – they just need to learn a new movement vocabulary. Irish dancers benefit greatly from Ballet training as it hones in on their posture, alignment, stretched knees and pointed feet. Dancers will practice both dance disciplines each day.
